He’s fast becoming hot property at Girton United. This once quiet lad who turned up to pre-season just wanting to play football with his mates, has risen to Girton Uniteds No1 (for the time being at least!!)
It started one summers evening against Kershaw Premier side, Waterbeach FC. Girton United had no keeper, and it looked like Chip Hazzard was going to Don The Gloves of Love, but after some gentle persuasion this blond streak agreed to go in goal. Was he out of his depth coming from colts football straight into a senior game? no on your nelly…. With a few “***king hell, that was a good catch” – “sh*t, he cleared his lines well” – “Who is that in goal? He ain’t bad” – “bl**dy hell, that was a good save” – “Buggsy, I think he maybe playing for the first team soon!!” – Well his name is Knight, Matt Knight – an 18 years old with always plenty to say, some say a cheeky sod!!
Matt has played several games for the 1st team in recent weeks, and everyone at the club knows what a good keeper he is and hopes whatever team he is playing for, he enjoys it.
Craig Galbraith has joined Ely City today. Good luck from everyone at the club and we hope you have great success there.
Does that mean Knighty has to be officially initiated now? Poor Knighty is all i can say!
Can someone please make sure we have a razor, elastic band, nipple clamps, WD40, shoe polish and a hose pipe on Saturday?!
